Spring has sprung [open]

Serena loved spring.

The flowers, the color... all of it. It might seem strange for an ice dragon, but she did.

She was in her human form, it wasn't super easy to hang out in town as a dragon, of course. So she sat next to the small koi pond in the gardens, running her hand through the water. It was still cold, though the fish looked happier by the moment. She guessed the goddesses had something to do with the water and koi in the gardens, because normal fish probably wouldn't make it through the winter in a small pond like this.

Some of the fish swam around her fingers, and she smiled. She had brought a little food with her, and tossed a few pieces in the water. The fish hurried to eat it, and a soft chuckle escaped her lips. She enjoyed simple things like this, feeding koi and relaxing. Her life had been so full of chaos, a moment like this was just what she needed.

She pulled her hand from the water and leaned back on both of them, looking out over the pond. She was happy that the kingdom had been at peace, but at times, she also did want the adventure that she had been used to. It was had to balance both, she craved adventure, but also...

A sigh escaped her again, as she looked up at the sky. There were a few clouds dotting the sky, but otherwise it was such a beautiful day. Perhaps there would be something interesting in town later.

Spring was in the air. You could smell it with the way the flowers and trees sprang to life. For Arthur the smell was more apparent. Mostly because of his dragon sense of smell. Of course not that anyone would know that. He walked today in his human form. Wouldn't make sense to go around in his dragon one. To many questions and dangers. Not to him of course to others.

The only thing that remained about him that was dragon were his eyes. The deep blue reptilian eyes of a dragon searched about the town. Not for anything in particular just searching. Sometimes that was the way to go just search and sometimes you might find something interesting. He walked onward scanning about. Nothing interesting to be seen.

He sighed and walked over to some ponds filled with koi fish. Odd that the fish survived in the cold weather. Probably had something to do with the dieties. Not that it mattered to him. He sat down and decided to relax a little while. He had nothing important to do anyway. Even dragons or half ones needed time to rest. Besides he would find adventure soon somewhere.

Serena frowned slightly as she felt another presence in the gardens, she honestly didn't expect another person to be here. And now they were interrupting her relaxation.

But something else shocked her as she took a deep breath to calm herself.

It was another dragon?

She hadn't seen or heard of another dragon around here for quite a while, though she supposed she hadn't been around the whole time, she had been back for a few years and hadn't seen another dragon.

She pushed herself off the ground and walked over to the dragon, not one to be shy at all. She stopped beside him, standing next to him as he sat on the ground. She waited just a moment and then plopped down next to him, a smile on her face.

"Hello. Haven't seen you around before." This was a social visit, but at the same time, she wanted to know who he was. She guarded the city, and tried to know what was going on at all times. It was for the kingdom's benefit, of course.

Arthur's eyes were closed as he let his senses go to the world around him. It was a good way to relax oneself. Plus it let him focus on everything and nothing. That was when he felt the presence. Another person and his attention diverted to it. He smelt it a cold wintery smell, but also something else a smell only one creature in the world could have. The smell of another dragon. A little shocked at this Arthur opened his eyes and scanned and saw it or her.

It had been along time since he had seen another of his kind. Years in fact. The last time he had seen one it had not been a cordial affair and had ended in violence. He watched the dragon as she came closer. Her hair was silver and eyes a plae gray. Many would describe her as pretty he supposed or close to beautiful.

But that wasn't all he saw. She had the air of a soldier, a warrior, one who had been tested in the fires of battle. She had that walk. Arthur himself was a warrior, a soldier of fortune, and he was good at it. So he knew that walk. She stood beside him for a few moments and he studied her. Calm, but interested and a hint of boldness. She smelled of all this.

Finally she sat down next to him and spoke. Arthur looked at her for a brief few moments and then said," Never been around before to be seen. Just passing through really." Truth though he did wonder if he should possibly look for work while here. There was always a need for a sword somewhere. Arthur asked," Is it usual for someone like you to approach a complete stranger? Or am I just lucky?"

There was a hint of humor in his voice when he said that. He then thought about it a moment and said," But then for all I know your the type of person to do that." He did not say she was dragon he would not do that. Not without her first saying it. It was politer that way.

Serena could tell that the stranger was sizing her up, though to be honest, she was doing the same thing to him. He was attractive, and he looked like a fighter as well, even though he was relaxed right now, she could tell that there was something about it.

Though it was was not a surprise. Dragons seemed to gravitate towards things like that.

After she sat, and he finally spoke after watching her for a moment, she nodded slightly. It made sense then, that she had not seen him. He was new to town, and claimed to be just passing by? Interesting. Though, there were a fair amounts of travelers in Zikhsot. Lots of people passed through the capital of Kotar, for goods or other services. The next question caught her slightly off guard however, and she watched him for a moment before she finally spoke again.

"I like to know people." And she wanted to know who was in town, of course, but she didn't want to tell him just yet She still wasn't sure exactly who he was, so she's save that for later. "My name is Serena, by the way."

The woman responded that she liked to know people. He had caught her off guard though. So something was there. He was not sure what. Caution maybe, perhaps a guard. Though no uniform. Puzzling all this. Arthur was not sure whether to be flattered or off put. Mind you he got attention from guards in towns all the time. How could he not as big as he was and as well armed as he usually was. But they rarely gave him the time of day unless he had done something. Which he rarely did. Well maybe not rarely he was not exactly subtle when dealing with issues.

The woman introduced herself. Arthur replied," Arthur, Arthur Mandraeg. Sellsword and Adventurer at your service". He would have done a theatrical bow had he not been sitting down so instead settled for an simple thrust out hand for a shake. Arthur then said," Though admittedly you might be looking for another name. Am I not right kinswoman?" He paused and said," No use in denying it. I can smell it on you. Only dragons carry that scent". He paused a slight bit of humor in his voice again before saying," Among our kin I am known as Dar'Vaeg. Son of Nar'Vaeg." Son of the Skies in Draconic for Arthur for his father Lord of the Skies.

He then sad," So now thats out of the way. What can I do for you"? Blunt to the point, always on the attacks, never let up, perfect words to describe him. It was not meant to offend or imply that he was worried. Arthur just preffered to be more direct than most people were used.

Serena smiled slightly when Arthur introduced himself, nodding her head slightly as she committed the name to memory. Sellsword. That could prove interesting. They were known to cause a bit of trouble around town, so she would definitely have to keep her eye out with this one.

When he finally spoke that she was a dragon, she grinned at him, and nodded her head. "That was one reason I approached you as well, I could tell what you were. We do smell a little different." She paused for a moment before speaking again. "And they're aren't a lot of dragons around here, so I figured I would like to know you."

Though she didn't recognize the names he said, she nodded slightly, also tucking that bit of information away, in case it was needed in the future.

She shook her head slightly when he asked what he could do for her. "I don't need anything, like I said, I just wanted to know you." Even though he was a dragon, she would have approached any other being that was here as well, if they were a stranger. She was used to many of the people that passed through, but strangers got her guard up no matter what.
